Almost every week I get at least one letter from someone who has prayed for a loved one or friend for many years without any apparent effect. And yet they go on to say that their prayers finally have been answered. If God has put a burden on your heart for an unbelieving loved one, keep on praying for them. Remember: You may be the only person on earth who is still praying for that person—and that is an awesome responsibility.

Dixie saw that I had stopped praying about this situation and for the person involved. She confronted me and lovingly put me back on track praying again.

While flipping through a drawer where I file especially-moving words of inspiration, I came across a pamphlet on the topic of forgiveness. Inside the pamphlet was the story from God’s Word found in the 18th chapter of Matthew (verses 21-35). Jesus shared this parable when Peter questioned Him on the topic of forgiveness. It is a story about a man who was called before his king because of a seriously large and overdue debt he owed.
